following the team in my city. It is BY FAR the most enjoyable sport to watch now for me, and this is coming from a lifelong football fan who now finds football fun but not very exciting. Basketball is way too slow and boring (and too many fouls), and don't even get me started on baseball. Give it a chance, and it will grow on you.

Caveat: I'm also a nerd who printed out the NHL rule book to try to understand icing, offsides, penalties, etc., and that helped gain a better understanding for the game.
