To those thinking Ryan Smith is paying significant amount of Young's contract:
Definitely understandable to think that.

But have any of you stopped to think that maybe that wouldn't be a good thing for him to do. He is the owner of an NBA franchise himself now. Reaching out to pay and pry a guy away from another NBA team, especially one who competes in the same conference/division, could be seen as meddling and probably wouldn't look too good, in fact, would probably be in violation of some NBA owner by-law. So...it's very possible he didn't agree to pay a penny of Young's contract. At least not directly. He could very well still donate to things like the Cougar Club, RBC and other BYU funds, but he'd no longer have the final authority and decision making power over how those funds are ultimately used. And if that were true...what would that say of BYU willing to play ball now?

Just sayin'
