BYU is not the University of Lousiana Monroe. BYU and it's boosters paid KY 30m dollars over the next 7 years. BYU is not making that type of investment without a plan, certainly without securing more NIL funding so we can compete at the highest level.
Sure, guys like Dallin Hall and Richie Saunders are trying to get paid and may go to Duke or UK but there are 3,000 players in the portal, 1,800 of them are scholarship players. When CC left, it opened up a ton of NIL money (sources say over 1 million), where do you think those funds are being allocated right now? And isn't it possible that KY and his his perspective staff think there are bigger fish to fry right now?
Yes, the NIL situation is bad and needs reworking but BYU IS NOT UTEP. We have funding, BYU is in the best conference in the country. With a coach who is known for player development and is endorsed by guys like KD, Booker, Chris Paul, etc. BYU is attractive to guys who are serious about the NBA and want their entire focus to be on basketball.
Take a chill pill people, we are going to be fine and more than happy with whatever happens. This is a dawning of a new age at BYU. You have to adjust your mindset.
