football/basketball players as slave labor to prop up their utopian world of non-revenue sports (including Title IX). Now they're asking the fans to step in and pay more for football/basketball because they don't want their fantasy world of sports to go away.

So in a way...they're asking the fans to pay for sports that they don't want because the universities want it and legislatures want it. And they won't let football beak away and go fully pro because then who will they exploit to pay for sports people aren't interested in?

This system doesn't work. It's not fair to the fans paying for or to the players making the money for everyone else.
