RE: Thinking the Jazz are going to be a playoff team next year is delusional.
1. We agree on this point. The Jazz need more than 1 move to make their current roster a championship level team.

I don’t think they make 1 move without the other. You apparently do.

2. The Jazz weren’t making the play-in game this year even if they went for it. GSW was the 10 seed with 46 wins. Even if the Jazz played all their guys they weren’t getting to 46 wins.

You cited the Lakers, Clippers, and Suns who could get worse next year. While I agree they could be worse, I don’t think that results in them being worse than the Jazz.

The Lakers have access to trade 3 FRP’s at the draft this year. Rumors are they’re interested in Trae Young or Donovan Mitchell. If they’re able to pull off that sort of trade they stay top 6 in the west. If not, likely top 10.

The Clippers are interesting and the most likely to fall out of the playin. Who knows what happens with PG and Harden? But Balmer has all the money in the world to pay those guys and they were the best team in the league for 30 games this year.

The Suns are interesting because the complete lack of assets to add another player. But they won 49 games this year and have no incentive to tank. KD, Booker, and Beal didn’t play much together this year. Maybe they get worse, but the current Suns are not going to be worse than the current Jazz (or Jazz with D Murray)

3. Why do you keep dismissing the Grizzlies? In 22-23 they won 51 games with a young core of Ja/Bane/JJJ. 23-24 they had 592 games missed due to injuries. They’ll likely add a top 5 pick, a healthy Marcus Smart, and be rolling again.

4. Wemby is awesome. If you don’t think with a couple of small additions the Spurs could be better than the Jazz I don’t know what to tell you.

I think the most important factor is that the summer hasn’t happened yet. If the Jazz go add Giannis or something crazy like that, yeah they’ll make the playoffs.

But Dannybsaid he’s not looking to go from 23 to 18. So he’s either moving them way up, or they’ll most likely be closer to the bottom than they were this year.
