I think the long-term plan is for that road to become a freeway.
Mountain View Corridor will connect to Redwood Rd further south and that will eventually become a freeway all the way south.
Additionally, SR-73 aka Corey B Wride Highway aka Pioneer Crossing (that intersects Mountain View Corridor) will eventually become a freeway going west to Tooele, as an alternative to I-80.
A few years ago there was a flyer or a website—I can’t remember exactly where I saw the plans.
