All of the master plans for the transportation network show several freeways west of the lake as well as a few going from I-15 over to Saratoga Springs through Lehi. Unfortunately most of these plans are hypothetical and idealistic and the reality of getting them approved is quite low. There needs to be funding for them which requires tax increase. There is also the issue of having to demolish many homes and businesses along the path of proposed freeways where sufficient space wasn't left.

The ones that have been approved and are in the works are Mountain View Corridor (all the way from North salt lake county to Saratoga springs and also 2100 north in Lehi. However, I could see a freeway being built on the west side of the lake connecting up to Mountain View Corridor. There is space for it up on the mountain side in Saratoga springs still. Only the section between Pony Express and Pioneer Crossing would require removing some current buildings. Unfortunately, this would be like 20 years out at the earliest and by then, the rest of the are over there will be much more built out.
