BTW, we have used solar powered ultrasonic snake repellent stakes. They seem to work well for us.
Our backyard opens up to a ravine (southern CA), so there are a lot of snakes. We have a few of these along the fence, and haven't seen a snake in our yard for years.
They periodically vibrate underground, making the snakes think there is a predator.
