BTW, we have used solar powered ultrasonic snake repellent stakes. They seem to work well for us.

OK, poisonous snake are a different story. I would kill a copperhead snake if I saw one in my yard.

Good point. I couldn't say whether or not a copperhead is poisonous. Seems like it probably wouldn't be.

A quick search says garter snakes cannot be eaten because they store toxins in

I caught a lot of garter snakes as a kid, but it never occurred to me to eat one. Good thing, I guess.
