The survey was answered by like 17% of the population
And was not significantly in favor.

The developer was sending advertisements (with false information as I recall) out the same day the survey was sent out. One of the points was about how much sales tax revenue it would supposedly bring the city (but in reality, the actual study shows it will only bring in like $7,500 a year due to how cities and counties share sales tax revenue).

And the survey response either had to be mailed in (with your own stamp) or done online, which skews away from the opinions of older people who aren’t going to do that.

Then when the people who cared tried to get signatures for a referendum out to get it on the ballot for the people to decide, a bunch of signatures were somehow disallowed.

Some crazy lady was going to all the town hall meetings saying she was going to sue the city and the city counsel if they didn’t let it pass. Sorry to the CBer who is married to her. She is trashy and classless, scoffing and loudly mocking everyone else that made a comment in opposition.

One councilman who was against it mysteriously resigned leading up to the process.

The developer was out telling people it was a done deal no matter how the process went because they had guarantees.

You can’t convince me that the majority of Highland residents want the alcohol laws repealed. But a vocal minority do and the developer is going to make it happen. I just hope it flops.
