Who serve on juries and have the audacity to award significant damages to a plaintiff.
The reality of this situation: the plaintiff almost certainly offered to settle for the policy limit or less years before trial, the insurance company offered something insultingly low (if anything at all), the insurance company decided to play hardball and refused to negotiate further, and the plaintiff and their attorneys had the guts to tell their story to a jury of ordinary folks and live with whatever they decided. Good for them!
