I will show you exactly how Boston’s teams became as good as they were/are:
Jayson Tatum: 3rd Overall Pick
Jaylen Brown: 3rd Overall Pick
Kristaps Porzingis: 4th Overall Pick
Ray Allen: 5th Overall Pick
Kevin Garnett: 5th Overall Pick
Paul Pierce: 10th Overall Pick
The Jazz have a lot of picks that won’t amount to much since the Timberwolves and Cavs are good teams right now. Those aren’t going to be enough to trade for big value assets. They have available cap space, but I don’t see any big free agents walking through the door anytime soon. Restocking the team with two-way players is great, but if that’s all they got then they’re always going to be right on the edge of making the playoffs.
The way for a small-market team to win a championship is gonna be through the draft and developing guys. i.e. Denver, Minnesota, Milwaukee.
