Not sure you can count on that. Yes some teams have found gems later in the draft, but you do realize that the success rate at the top of the draft is much much higher, right? It’s not just player evaluation either, a lot of it is luck. Denver had no idea Jokic would be what he is. They literally drafted Jusuf Nurkic way ahead of him in the same draft…they got lucky. Boston got lucky the first time that Brooklyn was awful so quickly after trading away their picks. Utah needs to get lucky for this to work. Bottoming out gives you a better chance.
