No, going 89 is faster. It is faster on Google Maps and faster in real life.

89 route is 30 minutes to an hour faster depending on a couple of factors but it is still the fastest route.

Flagstaff drive is more interesting. Whenever I'd do a round trip I'd go one way out and the other way back.

You can also avoid Page and Lake Powell and drive right past the northern rim of the Grand Canyon
