RE: Here’s the thing about BYU NIL
I want to understand this better, just the NIL idea all together. If you're the name and face of the team then you're a valuable commodity of the team and school. How do you quantify an athlete's NIL? If they've built it up before they've arrived and then continue to build it up while here then that make sense. Does every athlete get something as they're signing on? Starters get more? Once they've created an identity for themselves and among the team then they gain some value. A Jimmer Fredette or Taysom Hill makes a lot of sense, someone who's nationally known and bring eyeballs to the screen to watch the team play, that they get paid, but obviously it sounds like every player is trying to get their cut. Is there a line in the sand? Do only 4 and 5 star recruits get it? Or will a 2 star recruit going to SLCC (haha) get something too if that's the best player and recruit on their team?
