and get a high quality, 4-wheeled carry-on... plus
It sucks when the suitcase wheels don't work well and/or you are constantly fighting the suitcase handle.

Precheck is worth it just to not have to take shoes off or unpack laptop (and in my case... a CPAP machine).

Sign up for all the various frequent flier and hotel programs. Try to concentrate hotel stays at one or two brands to build critical mass on hotel points. I travel to Mexico a lot for business and either stay at the JW Marriott or the Hyatt Regency. If you can, concentrate flights on one airline to build points. Unfortunately, my business travel often puts me on different airlines (Viva Aerobus and Volaris) where I don't get points. I do get Delta points when I fly Aero Mexico.

Choose one or two credit cards to sign up for. I have a Delta Platinum Amex as well as a Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Amex. The Delta is more for personal reasons. Delta has the only direct flight from San Antonio to SLC. With my mom in Idaho, 2 kids at BYU, and another living in Utah the Delta card makes sense. We've then used Delta on various other trips (Spain, Italy, Seattle/Vancouver for an Alaska cruise, etc.).

Between my business travel and the Marriott Amex, I almost never pay for a personal hotel anymore with the points I accumulate from both. Also, the Marriott Amex comes with priority club, which gives me access to quite a few airport Executive lounges.

If your company will let you, pay with your personal card so you get the miles or points for that spend as well. My company issues a corporate card that we are supposed to use. I really wish I could use my Marriott Amex for those Mexico City JW Marriott stays because of the point multiplier when spending at a Marriott property.
