Good advice here. Amex also gives you access to points.me for free.
At least for Amex's airline partners. Usually it's a paid service.
Bilt does too for their partners. If you use Bilt.

I agree. I tend to use Amex and Chase points for hotels and not for flights.

Dont book through Amex. Use resources such as point.me, seats.aero, awardlogic.com, roame.travel or seatspy.
