I agree that the generalization of "UNLV Thugs" or "Drunks" is an inappropriate attempt to extrapolate from a small sample to a whole population. But that was an ugly scene and well publicized, and involved more than just a couple people and more than just a few swear words. If I understand reports right, UNLV fans took the fight to the BYU Band, not to say anything about women in attendance.

I'm not trying to get you to own up to it or admit that UNLV has a fan base of thugs, I'm just trying to point out that the perception, while incorrect, is something other than the result of bigotry, blind hatred, or fan partisanship. It is the unfortunate but expected result of bad behavior by a noticeable group of people. The anti-LDS/Polygamy chants aimed at BYU are not based on any personal experience and are either the result of severe mis-information or (more likely) born of bigotry, blind hatred, and fan partisanship.
