Boylen had nearly everything you mentioned but
head coaching experience. Giacoletti had the head coaching experience.
Rose had neither when he was hired, and he was hired without Holmoe even interviewing anyone else for the job.
In other words: Special K= Boylen and Giacoletti (thus why BYU fans are so giddy over this) and Rice=Rose.
