Grow a freaking spine, man. I'm in med school at the UU right now, and the anti-LDS sentiment is nowhere near what you say it is. I went to BYU as an undergrad, as did MANY of my UU med school peers. I'm curretly the student president of the Collegium Aesculapium, and I go to the Institute course for medical/nursing/pharmacy students each week. So, I have LOTS of interactions with other LDS students in health sciences graduate programs here at the UU.

Not ONCE have I heard of any strong anti-LDS sentiment among my peers or professors, nor have I heard any of my LDS peers complain about such issues. Are there occasional jokes/pot-shots taken at the LDS church? Sure. But, they are very rare. On the other hand, there are PLENTY of LDS professors and students at the med school. The Dean of Admissions is President Cecil Samuelson's brother, and there are two deans in the Deans Office who are LDS.

Too bad you didn't choose the UU for your MD/PhD because you were afraid of some phantom anti-LDS sentiment. It simply doesn't exist to the level that you say it exists. And, if your testimony can't handle a few jokes at the LDS Church's expense, then maybe you need a stronger testimony. Sorry, that was harsh. I don't mean to denigrate the strength of your testimony. I just mean to point out that your fears are unfounded.

That said, if you found a BETTER ACADEMIC school than the UU med school, I'm all for your decision to not come to the UU. The UU med school isn't that great, as far as a research institution in comparison to other academic institutions. In retrospect, I wish I had gone to a school with a better academic reputation, but I chose to stay close to home. I will have a harder time getting into the residency programs that I'm hoping for, because I'm coming from the University of Utah.

Oh well, GO COUGS!!!! I will be cheering hard for BYU and wearing my BYU swag throughout the football season here at the UU, as will many of my classmates who went to BYU - especially during rivalry week.
