He seemed to do better when there was pressure to do well
He'd be completely average for a whole game, and then play well at the end.
I'm not sure if you can translate that to a coordinator position, but I'm not sure he's got the experience or knowledge to create and tweak an offense appropriately at the college level. I think his promotion was premature, and that Roderick deserved a chance.
