RE: Purported pros and cons of living in Utah
Pro 1 depends on where you live Utah County yes large wards highly saturated neighborhood. SLC maybe not and if you live in a rural area even smaller wards.

Con 1 You are not in NYC, Philly, DC, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Los Angeles, Silicone Valley. So no there aren't as many companies, but Utah is doing a great job of growing their own businesses and attracting large companies as evidence in Adobe. If we were a large city like the others and had the jobs well you wouldn't have the great family environment and lack of gridlock etc.

Con 2 I came Utah for school and stayed now 21 years and I have never had a problem with this but I am a laid back person
Con 3 depends where you live Utah County yes very homogenic but I like it, you want diversity go to WVC or SLC
Con 4 I've never experienced this, I have heard about it but I have never seen it
Con 5 well you have it that with Non LDS so why wouldn't there be church members caught up in it too
Con 6 Every state has a culture
Con 8 send your kid to a private school or a charter school. Personally I think it is what you make of it. My four children attend public school, the difference is my wife and I are involved in their school and their education. I learning algebra for the 3rd and 4th time this year. I am learning US history etc. My children have A averages. My oldest attends UVU on academic scholarship
Con 9 Yes this is true. No matter what anyone tells you there is a quota for Utah and Idaho kids. BYU Idaho was made a 4 year school bc of this and UVU has been supported by the church through well off members to build and make a viable alternative in Utah County for Utah kids. My daughter had 3.93, student govt, capt of dance team, etc but was not accepted to BYU? But she was accepted to BYU I and recieved a full tuition scholarship, she also recieved several private scholarships and UVU full tuition scholarship. Tell me there is not a quota.

Any way my 2 cents.
