And a pass rush makes it so we don't see them. Take away the pass rush and they show up more. No coverage unit is perfect, but especially at BYU where no elite corner has played in 20 years.
The BYU- 3-4 scheme is built on getting a pass rush and helping the secondary out with pressure. It is not built on having elite cover guys. That is hte design of the defense.
Last year we had no pass rush. Guess how the secondary looked? In 2011 and 2012 and even 2013, BYU had a pass rush. The secondary looked much better.
It is not a coincidence.
I'm also not defending Howell or the secondary. But they had no help last year. QBs had all day to pick them apart. So they were.
