Another point made was most managers, CEOs and coaches focused on the stars, but the real difference is made by the "glue" types that have grit and coaches and managers should build and strategize around what they bring to the table. Again, obviously if the disparity at the top level is great enough, all the glue guys in the world won't overcome.
But Bellichick's point was to get grit guys who are not as talented as the opponent, but close enough in talent so as not to get to overwhelmed by it and then outwork and outsmart them.
