happening about a month ago and started happening to lots of people.

It's possible that it's OS/version specific. On Nexus 6P you're probably on oreo. I'm not on oreo yet. Not sure if that matters but it's one difference.

It does work but I personally don't like it because it pushes a new page

Weird. Mine doesn't add or remove a page, but I don't open new tabs with clicks
