Demographics in Anchorage have changed a lot over the past few years. There's been a huge influx of Pacific Islanders, Hispanics, and Asians, adding to the Native Alaskans who already had a strong presence. Anchorage now has three of the 25 most diverse high schools in the nation, out of more than 26,000.

It's not just the Mountain View neighborhood discussed in the article, but also Muldoon, Fairview, Spenard, West Anchorage, Airport Heights, and Midtown. It's a lot different than when I grew up here in the 70's.
Anchorage is now substantially less white (64.3%) than the rest of the nation (73.4%). The entire state is now only 65% Caucasian. It's true there aren't many African Americans, but that's not the definition of diversity.
