One bad season? You haven't been paying attention. We aren't

happy with the way BYU football and basketball are trending. BYU football has lost to Utah 7 years in a row. Not just last year. 7 years. That's not acceptable. BYU has slowly been in decline for several years. We know that Bronco wasn't the best recruiter. Sure, he would get a couple highlight players but overall, the talent level of the team has been declining. (There are multiple factors that has led to BYU no longer getting the best LDS talent. LaVell was also able to recruit incredible non-LDS talent.)

To be fair, Kalani has been dealing for the most part with Bronco's recruits. From what I've gleaned, the talent on the O-Line is much better than the last 2 years. I still question whether Kalani was really calling all the shots when he was hired. (I really wonder whether Kalani really wanted to hire Ben Cahoon (TH's buddy) and even TD for that matter, or if those decisions were really being made by TH. In any event, I'm hearing good things what with the addition of Grimes and some of the other coaches. Kalani learned from Urban Meyer and Kyle Whittingham and he played for the legend LaVell and the coaches who coached for LaVell. I can't imagine he wouldn't bring that knowledge with him. That's why I'm wondering if he's being hampered with requirements from BOD, BYU President, and TH.

The BYU basketball team for the most part is stagnant. There are definitely some issues that's causing starters to want to jump to go play Euro ball. That never used to happen. Mika and Bryant both could have played their Sr. years and then gone on to play in Europe. Either they were so full of themselves or there were issues behind the scenes. (BYU basketball is not in as bad of shape as BYU Football.)

For me, the bottom line is that our two flagship teams have been stagnant and even in decline. While I hope that we will see a turnaround the reality is that we really won't know until the seasons begin. For both teams.

One final thought. BYU - please modify your dress/grooming requirements. If I can enter the temple with a gotee, surely we can allow the football coaches to have one as well. Just require that they keep them well groomed. The same with beards.
