According to the USDA, the meat poses the same risks when you pull it out of the freezer as when you put it in.
Therefore I could have warmed it up after 2 straight years of being frozen with no additional risk than if I pulled it out 1 week after freezing. The quality at that point would probably have been pretty terrible though.
