Not only that, LaVell was in a conference with Arizona State and Arizona, who
Dominated the conference. In LaVell’s first four seasons at BYU, ASU lost a total of 7 games, finishing #13 in 72, #9 in 73, and #2 in 75. The 74 team caught ASU during a relative down year and managed to beat both Arizona schools, win the conference, and make the Fiesta Bowl. The is absolutely NO way LaVell would have been under fire after a milestone third season, even in today’s social media world.
