You say that Gary A's success at Utah State came from him reaching out and recruiting out of state talent that might have had a sketchy background.
When in reality it was the oppisite. One of the big changes that Gary did compared to Brent Guy was recruit more in-state talent and develop a good pipeline of RM's. Anybody who has followed Utah State closely knows this. (Examples of this were Kyler Fackrell, Tyler Larson, and The Whimpey Brothers).
Matt Wells followed suit. He made sure to recruit in-state LDS players as well as outside talent. (like Dax Raymond)
Both of thier success came from being able to develop players, not by taking risks with players who were talented, but had character issues.
