Here is some additional advice based on personal experience.
If there is one treatment that has been approved by the FDA and is commercialized, there is likely another treatment from a different company going through the clinical trial phase. Find out about these trials and find out how to become part of the trial. Usually participation is free in the trial, which is less than $850,000 (the downside is the treatment may not be as efficacious or there may be side effects). I would only focus on treatments that are in phase three.
