The PAC12’s OOC wins against P5 schools are Mississippi (4-7), Michigan State (4-6), Texas Tech (4-6), Nebraska (4-6), and Northwestern (2-8). Their losses are Auburn (7-3), Oklahoma (9-1), and Oklahoma State (7-3).
IOW, not a single OOC P5 win against a school with a winning record. The SEC and B10 champs are in ahead of Utah, so there’s only two spots remaining. If Clemson wins out they’re win, and they may be in anyway even with a loss. If Oklahoma wins out they’re in, and you could make a case for Baylor as well. So already Utah’s playoff dreams are out of their hands. You need multiple schools to lose. If Bama wins out, which they’re talented enough to do without Tua, they may still stay ahead of Utah.
Not to mention, it’s no guarantee Utah beats Oregon, and even beating Oregon probably isn’t enough, Utah would need to annihilate Oregon. Utah may be ranked 7th now, but their SOS and bad loss is going to be mire prohibitive when push comes to shove, especially for a non blue blood like Utah.
It’s as simple as that, fella.
