Even the morons that run the CFP are smart enough to understand that the best way to keep the political ninnies and the G5 from taking the CFP/P5 to court is to throw the G5 a bone.
Sure, the P5 could take their ball and split off from the G5, but the P5 live off the G5 financially by taking advantage of the one-and-done games that allow the P5 so many extra home games. Giving up 1 CFP slot is a small price to pay to forever keep 2 or more G5 teams from making the CFP in the same year.
