Yeah it's going to need maintenance.

I work with firewalls regularly. They are regularly patched for new vulnerabilities.

Granted I don't think patching is super complex.

In general firewalls once set up need no maintenance.

Well if you're not changing the function much, then the firewall can be hardcode
