The CCP was at its worst a couple of generations ago, from the '50s-'70s. For a
while there it was in the running for the world's most repressive regime, right up there with the likes of North Korea, Cambodia, and the Soviet Union.
The CCP of our generation has plenty of issues, but it is much less repressive and much more free-market-oriented than it was even 15 or 20 years ago. Not a reason to accept it's shortcomings, of course, but a little perspective is good, IMO, with all the hyperbole that's flying around in this election campaign.
