From the point of view of the academics who run elite universities, it is
academic freedom that is the issue. For example, the fact that researchers or students at BYU would not be allowed to publish a paper or book alleging that Joseph Smith was not actually a prophet, or presenting evidence that the Book of Mormon could be false. From their perspective, that is a serious infringement of academic freedom.
