This is why the argument has some credence. It's not fair, and that's the way
they want it. The Big12 does not have a superpower. That's the most important qualification to be P5.

The playoff system was carefully designed to ensure that only the superpowers will be invited. That's why you get Ohio State one year despite the fact that they didn't win their conference. The conference champion over them wasn't invited.

It's a club within a club and the likes of Iowa St and Baylor aren't part of it. The PAC12 is down, no question about it. But they still have USC, which is definitely part of the club. If USC has an undefeated season then they will go to the playoff - no question about it.

The BIG12 has respectable teams. It will be a fun, competitive league. However, they don't have a superpower. I'd be surprised if they ever get an invite to the 4 team playoff.
