I was once fired for correcting a note from a GED Teacher at Job Corps.
My wife and I, a young married couple trying to make ends meet while going to school. Were contracted to clean a Job Corp building in Mesa. This was a US Govt program to help people gain skills etc. to become employed. A couple of the rooms we cleaned were GED classrooms that were notoriously the dirtiest rooms in the facility. One night one of the teachers left a not very nice nice note complaining about poor cleaning and that the room needed to be vacumed. So I left a response that we took care of it and <sic> notation with the ^U on the note.

I got fired for it when she complained to the facility director and then to the Cleaning Contractor. I couldn't believe a Teacher would even admit to making a mistake like that. We were so poor it really hurt. Fortunately the Contractor felt bad for us and we got a new better contract cleaning a Farm Bureau office that was more money less work

Blessing in disguise. But not a funny story.</sic>
