and Big 12 negotiated contracts near the same time, the Pac-12 got significantly more money--and that was a Big 12 with Oklahoma and Texas. The Big 12 only recently went (barely) ahead of the Pac-12 with money due to contract negotiation in 2019.
A Big 12 without Oklahoma and Texas will not be in the vicinity of the Pac-12 moneywise.
Also, the Pac-12 is having a bad year this year. But go look at the records of how BYU has done against the Pac-12 and versus the New Big 12... Even at 4-0 this year, Kalani has a losing record against the Pac-12. Yet, even with the Baylor loss, Kalani has a winning record against the New Big 12.
I always find it funny how BYU fans rip the Pac-12, yet have struggled so much against it. Is there a coach in BYU's history that had a winning record against the Pac-12?
And here's the kicker, every Big 12 team was begging into the Pac-12 with Oklahoma and Texas leaving. The Pac-12 could poach the Big 12 anytime they wanted if there was any value there.
