In 2003 BYU was a very respectable 64.29% successful going for it on 4th down (18th in the nation).
I can't find data for 2002. Gary Crowton's dumbest play call was not going for it on a 4th down, it was throwing the ball against Stanford with time running down and a 2 point lead. If BM or KS did that, I would have booed them just like I booed GC. Stupid. Punting from your opponents 36 is so dumb and boo worthy.
