I see 150k as a pinnacle

On the east coast, most middle income families have two incomes totally 200k+, but kids are in daycare (30k a year). So, for one income to be 150k and one parent can be home with kids (stay at home dad), that would be much better than both parents working for 200k.

Oh course, now many jobs allow you to live where you want and retain the salary…
