So it could be nothing? That's not my favorite answer but it's better than
a serious issue. I know it's weird to have an old vehicle and hate noises as much as I do, but I can't help it. Especially a noise that wasn't there before.

My bet would be its the wheel bearings or the rear differential. Both could make

Looks into the IWE and hub vacuum. They are known to make a high pitch whining

Mine has manual locking hubs. So IWE isn't applicable right?

You could have a bad hub. Lock your hubs and drive around in 2WD

Check 12 and 6 too. 3 and 9 play can also be steering linkage
