Yes, pretty common, though $175 is on the higher end. Then again, with inflation
maybe that's simply the current adjusted rate. Most shops I've been to, though, will roll at least a portion of it into the repair bill if you do the work with them.

It seems like most places will charge you a diagnosis fee, but then they waive
