1) Call insurance. If they are willing to help--great. It's worth a call either way.
2) Call the court clerk and see if summons is permitted by U.S. Mail. Most times a summons to start a lawsuit must be served in person--unless there is a court rule or court order that permits other methods of service. Don't make their job easier by replying on an improperly-served complaint. Be very careful before you consent to the jurisdiction of an out-of-state court.
