Actually not weird at all. New Mexico heritage is much more about Native American culture than Mexican. It’s confusing
As well and so that’s another reason to Not like it.
I think it’s really weird that you think it’s weird someone doesn’t like something because of its confusion and lack of relevance to the country to the south of ours.
