And to the BYU-bashers who moan about the "bad" publicity Y sports attract, I say there's no such thing as "bad" publicity. Joseph F. Smith seemed to agree:
"One of the greatest challenges Joseph F. Smith faced was dealing with misunderstandings and persecutions directed toward the Church. However, in 1908 he declared that efforts by detractors 'have but been the means, indirectly, of forwarding the work in the world. They have called the attention of the world toward us, and that is just what we want. … We want the world to become acquainted with us. We want them to learn our doctrine, to understand our faith, our purposes, and the organization of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.'"

FYI - after finishing HS with a sub-3.0 GPA, I didn't even try to apply to BYU because I knew I wouldn't be admitted, so I attended and graduated from LDSBC and the UofU instead.
