Apparently it was on a leash but still back on school property where kids were playing. My son was chasing after a soccer ball and was about to run into the dog, so he tried to jump over it and it jumped and bit him. It sounds like it just reacted rather than it being some kind of a vicious dog.

But the point is, my son was where he was supposed to be, but the dog wasn't.
