I don't think I'm dropping any major spoilers here but if you are worried about that you may not want to read further.
1. It's overly graphic and has a ton of bad language. Definitely not for teens.
I'm concerned that many teens think it's a show they should watch and they should not. I learned about the show because my 13 year old heard about it from a bunch of kids at school and asked if he could watch it.
Ummm... NO!
Some CBers have suggested it's a show for their kids and I think that's terrible.
A lot of the bad language is forced which I particularly hate in movies/shows.
2. Stupid premise and bad acting. Pretty cheesy I'd say. Also totally unrealistic portrayal of HS life.
Those two points could be forgiven but that's not all.
People say it's about bullying. Frankly, it's not. It is really more about sexual assault and that has more to do with the reason for the suicide. There was some bullying as well, but was pretty much independent of the sexual assault which was the biggest issue, by far.
3. The show attempts to blame everyone else but the girl for the suicide, including well meaning friends and a school counselor who couldn't have helped her anymore than he did.
It's not just the girl who blames the school counselor either. It was also the main friend/bf of the girl.
Stupid.
As I said, it's totally unrealistic and the message isn't really all that special because of that.
It's possible we will see some copycats though from this in the future too and I think that's unfortunate because what she did was not "cool" although some kids may think it is.
