Scene and imo that’s just not inherently possible. In the current structure, BYU will never have the athletes to compete in the top 10-20. I accepted that several years ago post-jimmer.
That being said, I bought season tix for the first time this past year due to moving back to Utah and loved the b-ball season (especially after the football season). I really enjoy watching this team. Sports isn’t tecmo bowl and at least we know who our athletes are aside from a bunch of schools with a slew of one and doners.
BYU is who it is but that doesn’t mean sports can’t be a diversion and supportive of the great young men and women giving it all. In my older age of 41, I try to only worry about things I can control and live in the moment with my kids or my wife when I can attend BYU games. All of this conference movement and affiliation has not and likely won’t treat BYU well, so I say just enjoy it and be supportive of those involved. There’s a lot other stakeholders with way more invested calling the shots and discussing next steps than you or I, so what’s the point of being so ardent about these matters?
