where I live, boating is about 10 min away from everyone
and you can buy a pretty nice boat that's 20 years old for under 10k. Granted, it won't have the surfgate, ballast bags, etc that are common in the latest and greatest models, but you can be out on the river having a great time with your kids for cheap. It's a great family activity
